Celebrations at Cucina, Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel

Just like two years ago. Celebrating another birthday at Cucina, Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel

Two years ago, I blew a candle on my birthday cake at Cucina, the Italian restaurant at Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel. It was a luncheon for three hosted by the hotel’s communication manager, Samantha Poon. Karen Tam of Harbour City was with us. You ca call it an intimate celebration.

Facebook’s “Memories” feature has its way of reminding you what you posted in the past. The 2016-posted Cucina celebration popped up on my page. Coincidentally, I was in the same place doing the same thing two years after. Same period, same place, same host, same fabulous menu (which I cannot have enough of), same specialty cake.

The company though was bigger. More voices singing “happy birthday.” It made the moment merrier.

But “my party” was not the main event. It was an incidental event to Cathay Pacific’s fete for its top Mindanao agents. With Cathay Dragon flying direct to Hong Kong from Davao, the new convenient destination from the key Mindanao city was a good venue to salute the airline’s partners.

The evening’s banquet for was hosted by Marco Polo Hongkong. The communications manager, Samantha Poon, offered the bestsellers of the house, including the Wagyu Beef Cheeks that was slow-cooked for with hours. It was a gastronomic tour of Italy in Hong Kong enjoyed with bottles of red wine.

Cathay Pacific, led by the Philippine country president, Rob Bradshaw, honored its top five agents from Mindanao: Butuan’s One Corporate Grand Tours, CDO’s Sunbee Tours and Travel, Davao’s Pan Asiaworld Holidays, Century Express, and House of Travel, who was awarded the top agent of the year.

A trip to Japan on Cathay Pacific’s Business Class, overnight stay in the Marco Polo hotel and other prizes raffled off added to the evening’s excitement.

It was a fun party. Thank you Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Tourism Board for making this happen.

Thank you for sharing your photos Kenneth Ong and Ian Garcia.
