{ jeepneyjinggoy stop } Sleeping in I.M. Pei's tower

I wish it was in one of the glass and steel pyramids of the Musee du Louvre, but no. I got to stay in the I.M. Pei's livable masterpiece, and a luxurious one at that- the Swissotel The Stamford in Singapore.

Soaring high at 226 meters, the Swissotel The Stamford (then the Westin Stamford) was the tallest hotel in the globe when it was completed in 1986. Maybe they no longer hold the title today, but they still enjoy having their name on the list as one of the towering hotels in the globe.

Voted as Asia Pacific's Best Business Hotel, Swissotel The Stamford is in the "next room" of my previous "home", the Fairmont. Both hotelas are part of the complex that includes a mall, an array of award-winning restaurants that will satisfy everyone's food craving, and the impressive state-of-the-art, 70,000 square feet Raffles City Convention Center that can accommodate meetings and events of various sizes.

Its idyllic location makes it the perfect haven for the businessman or the leisure traveler who wish to be at the center of the business, shopping, dining and entertainment hubs of Singapore. With the City Hall MRT Station and other transportation nodes is literally at its doorstep, everything else is just one stop away.

"The hotel will enchant every guest with unrivalled comfort in 1,261 guestroom and luxurious suites with private balconies providing breathtaking panorama of the country's bustling landscape as well as the scenic views of nearby islands of Malaysia and Indonesia," said Ee Jin Lim, director of marketing and communications.

My postcard shots from the 50th floor...

I may have missed the chance to have breakfast and cocktails at the Fairmont's club lounge, but I was blessed with the chance to do it at the Swissotel The Stamford's Club Lounge's Swiss Executive Club.

The Club Lounge not only extends the exclusivity and freshly prepared preferred fare expected of the place, but it also perks the guests up with a great view- the sunrise over the iconic bay, that no caffeine drink can match.

Morning perk at the Swissotel The Stamford Club Loungesunrise: sunrise over the iconic bay & Raffles City, that no caffeine drink can match.... that goes for the lovely smiles of their Filipina associates.

At 70th floor of this hotel is the "very happening" Equinox Complex is. I was able to tour it but never got the chance to try any of their award-winning restaurants or got to sip a drink at the bar. But one thing I would like to try in this ritzy high-rise complex is their roof deck shindigs. That's house music, cocktails and 360-degree view of Singapore. That's something to look forward to.

Swissotel The Stamford is at #2 Stamford Road, Singapore. Telephone +65 6338 8585.
