“Wave your passport, we’re all ready for you! The Big Davao Fun Sale team from the retail, hotel and dining sectors will make sure your visit to Davao is memorable. |
It’s one of the most ambitious and exciting events the city has designed to lure in visitors from all over—a shopping spree of insane proportions involving 7 major malls and hordes of hotels and restaurants across this vast territory. Davao City has become a shoppers’ and foodies’ haven for the deal seekers since the Big Davao Fun Sale kicked off a couple of weeks back, and all they’ve been doing is wave their passports.
You passport to fun & fortune. Shop & win P100,000. |
The Big Davao Fun Sale passports can be claimed at the airport and at the participating malls—Abreeza, SM Malls in Matina and Lanang, NCCC, Robinsons and Gaisano in Bajada and Digos. “The invitation to visit all malls via the passport should impress upon buyers the variety of products and services available in the city,” said Tourism Asec. Arturo Boncato, Jr.
“We have issued more than 7,000 passports to date,” said Tourism Asec. Art Boncato, Jr. |
To date, more than 7,000 passports have been issued by the BDFS via the promo booths at the airports and the malls. The recent themed sale events of all the malls highlighting Health & Beauty and Electronics & Gadgets drew in crowds of eager shoppers who were treated to special shows as well— Abreeza brought in Dr. Vicki Belo to talk about enhancing beauty while Starmobile celebrity endorser Vice Ganda was at Gasiano Mall. “We are pleased with the interest of recipients about the info on the sale as indicated in the passports,” shared Boncato.

Along with the deals the malls are offering, the passport bearer gets an automatic discount or freebies at all participating outlets of the promotion. The hotels are dropping their room rates to half, restaurants like Marina Tuna is offering free tuna, free Durian Crepe from Patok sa Manok, Claude’s will take 15% off your tab, etc.
To sweeten the month-long escape-to-Davao-to-shop-and-dine experience, passport holders who have shopped a minimum of P500 at all the 7 malls will get a chance to win P 100,000 in cash. How’s that for a rebate?
Other raffle prizes will include a weekend get-away for 2 (inclusive of airfare, inland transfers, hotel accommodations and P20,000 pocket money), five iPhone 5 and 10 gift certificates worth P4,000.00 each.
BDFS has two more weeks of shopping madness for everyone. Up next is the Home & Travel theme and the Active Lifestyle/Fashion theme will culminate the sale event. Now go through you checklist, the coming weeks will be a great time to bargain hunt for the items you need, and be sure to take your passport with you.
