Ten flip-flopping years

ON THIS part of the country, everyone’s ten toes have been happy for the past ten years. Thanks to the Brazilian wonder who made the lowly footwear a more acceptable accessory to wear.

Everybody’s favorite stylish flip-flops, Havaianas, is celebrating ten colorful years in these parts of the Philippine map. It’s been a decade since the Latin American brand “stepped” on Davao soil and made our digits happy with its spectrum of pigments on an array of styles.

Friends and fans of the brand were invited to the annual “thank you” gathering. The Obrigada! event has become a tradition, and for 2015, the party coincided with the Chinese’s Lunar Calendar of welcoming the Year of the Sheep.

At the Oriental-themed affair the 2015 collection of Havaianas was presented. Included in the collection were “Peace & Luck,” which features good fortune colors of green and white; “Slim Provence” presents a breath of Spring in a romantic theme of flowers; an explosion of colors in “Havaianas Arts”, a collection collaborated with Brazilian visual artist Cako Martin, who takes inspiration from street art and graffiti; “Teen Chocolate” is another fun and novel design for the year, which picks up on the 3D drawing trend that makes the sole look like a bar of chocolate with its wrapping being peeled off; and, a fairy tale for the young feet, the “Frozen” collection printed with well-loved characters of the Walt Disney film—Elsa, Anna and Olaf.
