All fun at the new kiddie salon

THE youngest members of the family may be the apple of everyone’s eyes, the cutest and the most adorable creatures on Earth. But they can turn into little imps when it’s time for grooming.

Admit it, kids are hardest to manage when it’s time to sit on the barber or salon chair. There is something about the sight of the scissors and its snipping sound that scares the wits out of them.

At Fun Cuts, it can be different. It will be “kids play” for this kiddie salon when the time of the month comes for the youngsters to style their locks.

From afar, Fun Cuts looks like a playroom—brightly colored, comic book murals cover the four walls, cartoons showing on the television sets strategically placed in front of the themed “rides” –a top down convertible, army jeep, buggy or an F1 racing machine— toy cars that double as the barber chair.

Happy place. Just like a kid's playroom

The look of playroom entices the kids to enter and get into a relaxed, play mood while the mom and the staff ease them to the real purpose of the visit.

It’s a formula that worked for Fun Cuts, the business brainchild of three women: Kay Gempesaw, Yvonne Soriano and Camille Soriano, all mothers who can relate to a parent’s situation when the need for grooming arises with their own children. This is another case of “mothers know best”.

Recently, the trio spread the fun in kids’ grooming to the South of the city and opened the third branch of Fun Cuts Kiddie Salon at the 2nd floor of the SM City Davao. The other two are also mall based, one in GMall and the other in SM Lanang Premier.

Minutes after the blessing of the new kiddie salon, the young clients were already occupying the toy car salon seats—with smiles on their faces.

Congratulations on the opening of the third kiddie salon, ladies, and looking forward to more Fun Cuts in the coming years.
