THE celebration continues. Unbroken. But there was an extra buzz of excitement on the night of the 52nd Hijos de Davao celebration for it was the eve of the inauguration of a Mindanaoan as the new Philippine president.

But before Rody Duterte walked up the stairs of Malacañang Palace and formally take over as the new leader of the nation, he left his message of gratitude to the Hijos de Davao organization for its valuable contribution to the city, and encouraged its leaders to bring the association to new greater heights and, united in cause, towards true transformation.
In his message, Hijos President Vincent Garcia dedicated the affair to the incoming president who bannered “Change is coming” as his slogan.

“We in Davao know what Mayor Duterte means about 'Change.' We have seen it happen to our city and seen the fruits of his style of governance. We wish him well and wholeheartedly support him as he expands his governance to the whole Philippines.”
Yes, the 52nd year of Hijos was exciting indeed with generations of Dabawenyos loyally attending the annual ball to preserve the tradition of honoring the city’s patron Saint though camaraderie and service to the fellow citizens.
