She shared the accomplishments of China, like the successful completion of its poverty alleviation goals at the end of 2020, lifting over 800 million people out of poverty and the 5.3% year-on-year GDP growth in the first half of 2025.
The Chinese Consul General also highlighted that 2025 also marks the 50th year of diplomatic relations with the Philippines, citing that mutually beneficial cooperation remained the theme of the China-Philippines relations, and China is the Philippine’s largest trading partner.
Davao has found its way onto China’s tables via the exportation of Durian and other tropical fruits. In the infrastructure sector, the completion of the Davao River Bridge and on-going Davao-Samal Bridge is aided by China. The latter, once completed, will significantly boost local economic development once it connects the two islands.
Present at the affair was Acting City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte, who commended the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Davao City for continuously fostering a stronger partnership that has yielded significant benefits for the Filipino and Chinese communities in the city, particularly in economic development, tourism, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
