ISSEY MIYAKE launches the BAO BAO men's series “ON THE GO”

This is the time that I wish I was in Tokyo. I have been idolizing this Japanese designer for quite some time now and started collecting the (few) pieces I can from the time my economic capacity to own allowed it.

I fell in love with the Bao Bao collection the first time I laid my eyes on them. I was aware that this label was for women but I bought myself a tote bag-- I knew I could get away with it. :)

Then Miyake debuted a men's jacket of Bao Bao technology on the runway last year. My jaw dropped but there was no way of getting my hands on one. I don't even know if it was going to be reproduced for retail. It would most likely end up in a museum.

Now comes this-- BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE: The launch of the men's series “ON THE GO” which I read while browsing the Issey Miyake website (of course, my heart rate peaked), it publishes the latest news from all the labels under the designer regularly.

This is the time that I am searching for a lightweight backpack. Toting leather bags while traveling is getting to be a burden. I need something featherweight, can hold the travel necessities on transit or while touring and shopping in a foreign land (camera, laptop, etc.) and can distribute the weight on both shoulders instead of one.

Actually, I saw one of the backpacks in a glossy finish in the Bao Bao shop in Siam Discovery in Bangkok recently but it only came in blue. The black color was sold a few days back, said the sales lady. The one they have was not for me, it wasn't time for me to own one.

This collection is for me though-- in matte black. But will I be able to get my hands on MY backpack? I am praying someone I know from Shinjuku will get to read this and have the heart to secure it on my behalf.

It's on sale for a limited time only ending TODAY, August 19. From the looks of it, these would been sold out already.

"BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE will open its first limited-period store in the promotion space in the bag department on the B1 floor of Shinjuku Isetan Men's Building.
The special lineup offered will be a collection of items from "ON THE GO," a men's series that was available only at the Shibuya PARCO store and enjoyed a good reputation. Items such as day packs and document cases, in a new matte black color, will be available ahead of other items. The event will be held until August 19 (Mon), so don't miss it!
Please also note that purchases at the store are limited to two items per customer. Thank you for your understanding."
