B*itch Bites: Davao Gourmet Collective

ANOTHER serving of Davao Gourmet Collective comes our way starting today, March 11, until Sunday, March 13, at the Fountain Court of the SM Lanang Premier.

The pop-up event, called “Food and the City”, will have 15 purveyors joining, mostly repeaters. From the sampled dishes during the preview, here are the dishes I am recommending.

1. “Feisty Duterte” by B Wings. The Katipunan, QC brand will fly its deep-fried flappers in town. Of the eight varieties that may be served, go for the “Feisty Duterte”, the spicy, lemon flavored chicken wings. “Pinoy” (not named after the president) is the non-spicy version.

2. Kai Artisan Chocolate bars. I am not a fan of milk and white chocolates but I love how this brand plays with its flavors. Depending on the maker’s mood, the season’s fruits and nuts may end up in the bar. I can’t wait for the dark chocolate versions.

3. Kare-kare of Fatboy’s Kitchen. I went for the sauce and veggies and skipped the meat (I abstained), and finished a bowl of rice. If you eat meat, go ahead and finish everything. Try this brand’s variants of empanadas as well.

Foodies will have a feast from the other purveyor’s dishes: Bistro Selera Cucina Ilocana, JR Pastry, Café El Gato, K, Backyard Burgers, Stellina’s Lemonade, Sugarcane Bar, The Grillery, The Griddle Burgers and Sandwiches, Kakimkris Lechon Haus, Aling Foping’s Halo-Halo, and The Crazy Cook.
