THIRD on the list to present its Kadayawan offerings is Marco Polo Davao (MPD) and they kicked off the celebration with a Fashion & Fusion event at the hotel lobby.

Saluting the 11 tribes of Davao, MPD collaborated with the newly established Davao Fashion Design Council and the hotel chefs to execute through garments and cuisine the best representation of the highlighted communities.

A peek into the result—an exciting interpretation of the indigenous people’s fashion and cuisine seen through the eyes of the couture and culinary experts—was presented on opening night of the hotel’s August festival presentation.

The evening’s affair was capped with the unveiling of the Rodrigo Roa Duterte Presidential Plaque, the newest addition to the lobby’s gallery of Philippine leaders.

Throughout the festivity, the designs of the guest designers will be exhibited at the hotel’s reception hall and the cuisine of the 11 tribes can be enjoyed at the Café Marco and Polo Bistro from August 12 to 20.

Appetizer: Plaren a Seda a Barilis (Magindanaw) - Spicy Tuna (one of a trio in the starters set)


Soup: Mongo Soup with roasted whole garlic served with 24 hours braised beef ribs adobo.


Main Dish: Linotlot nga Manok (Jangan) - Chicken cooked in bamboo. Served with Sinigapuna (Kalagan)- yellow rice.


Landang (Magindanaw) - Beef cooked in coconut milk. Served with Sinigapuna (Kalagan) - yellow rice.

Dessert: Trio from Sama & Tausug tribes- Wadjet- Durian Rice Cake; Daral; & Pasung- steamed cone cake
