June 2018 musings: Cheers!

Like a snap of the fingers, half of 2018 is over. June, the last month of the first half of the year, gave us a lot of reasons to raise and glasses and say cheers!

Most celebrated this month would be our dads. Social media salutations may have taken over the traditional greeting cards of yesteryears, but the love and respect for the man of the house has never diminished.

Three dads and a toddler. Father’s Day with Tonton’s dad, lolo and lolo dad

Celebrations filled the city’s dining spaces. The big men’s treat (there was three generations of dads with us) was in an Italian restaurant, where we were lucky to get seating for 15 without reservations. Five o’clock is a good time to celebrate on a day when a full-house is expected.

To the main man of the clan, Happy Father’s Day, dad! We love you!

ove for locally-made goods are greater by the year. T’nalak Home can attest to that claim. Since its first concept store was opened in Abreeza Mall in 2011, the admiration and support for the handcrafted products of TADECO Livelihood—home accessories made of t’nalak, handmade paper, etc.—has increased. More and more homemakers, architects and interior designers are breathing modern Mindanao accessories into their projects.

Madayaw T’nalak Home!

T’nalak Home’s following is increasing with each passing year

Yes, you’ll catch select items of T’nalak Home in the model unit of the most ambitious and luxurious projects by Ayala Land in Davao—The Residences at Azuela Cove. Well, it’s just befitting to infuse contemporary Mindanao in this Davaoeño-owned seaside property where the condominiums are rising.

The developer said they have sold all the units of the first tower quickly. If you’re one of those who shelled out P36M, P40M or P80M, you’ll be one of the 70 unit owners who’ll live the life of luxury and exclusivity when your unit is turned over in 2023.

Another reason to celebrate is when the South Tower rises, which is said to be sold 15% more that the first tower’s cost. Your investment has just earned you millions.

Get those Dom Perignons popping. You have five years to stock them.

But if you want to experience a true-blue seaside living (even temporarily), head off to The Island Buenavista. The island is an hour’s boat ride away from the city and you’ll be lucky to spot dolphins along the way.

Your own piece of paradise at the Island Buenavista

There are only twelve rooms in the 4-hectare, eco-friendly island embraced with a white-sand shoreline and it will feel like you own the entire island when you visit. It’s like owning your own piece of paradise without shelling out millions.

It can be romantic if you decide to stay the night with someone special. Why not pop a bottle of wine and enjoy it under the moonlight?

Want to do your staycation in the city instead? Do it at Marco Polo Davao. Why? The rooms are now equipped with complimentary handy Smartphone, allowing you to stay connected enjoy unlimited 3G internet access, unlimited local calls and international calls to Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, US and Hong Kong. handy will also have an Attractions Guidebook, Shopping and Restaurants Guide, Interactive Map and GPS Functions and Social media networking and instant messaging.

Cheers to Marco Polo’s new room amenity, the handy smartphone

Yes, you have your own smart phone but this one won’t use up your data. Plus, you get to enjoy the comforts of your hotel room.

Order a glass of bubbly from room service. Cheers!

Finally, ending the month is the much-celebrated Hijos de Davao, the 54th anniversary this year. If there’s someone more excited that the rest, it would be me. It’s at this time of the year that people dress up and among the lot a few would stand out. Five of these women end up on the Best Dressed List. Who they are will be revealed in the next issue.

A toast to these glamourous Davaoeñas!

Michelle Ang was on the 2017 Hijos de Davao best dressed list. Who will end up on this year’s list?
