Flag carrier Philippine Airlines today unveiled a new video on its social media platforms to impart the message that air travel is safe because PAL invests in rigorous safety measures to protect the health of its passengers.
"Philippine Airlines has put in place protocols and safeguards that ensure the safety of all our travelers in this time of heightened concerns, and we enforce them strictly and consistently. We invite you to view our new video that shows safety as the cornerstone of our corporate culture," emphasized PAL VP Marketing Ria C. Domingo.
"Whatever your reason for flying, you’ll always fly safe in the hands of Philippine Airlines," she added.
Produced by PAL's Marketing team in partnership with advertising firm Ace Saatchi and Saatchi, the 2-minute video -- with the theme 'You're why we fly safe" -- highlights the importance of safety in the airline's mission to provide vital air services for essential travelers, repatriate overseas Filipinos and transport urgent vaccines and medical supplies.
PAL assures that passengers are protected throughout all phases of their flights with Asia's first airline:
Safety measures at the airport:
- thermal scanning, transparent counter barriers, intensified cleaning and disinfecting, self-tearing and self-scanning of boarding passes
Safety measures onboard:
- Seeking passenger cooperation to practice social distancing upon boarding and deplaning
- Hand sanitation and wearing of face shield and masks,
- Use of full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by PAL's highly-trained cabin crew
- Advance aircraft cabin air flow system, including powerful HEPA filters which cleanse cabin air of bacteria and viruses with 99.99% efficacy.
In 2020, PAL was one of more than 150 airlines audited on its covid-19 safety credentials by Safe Travel Barometer, an independent rating firm. PAL secured a 4.2 rating out of 5.0, the highest score.
PAL was the first Filipino airline to be registered with IOSA, the IATA Operational Safety Audit that is the gold standard for adherence to international safety standards. The airline completed its seventh consecutive IOSA renewal in 2019, thus marking a full 16 years of international safety compliance to date.
In 2019, the flag carrier was re-certified as a 4-Star Global Airline and was ranked 30th best airline in the world by Skytrax, earning the World’s Most Improved Airline honors. The US-based Association of Airline Passengers (APEX) awarded PAL a 5-Star Major Airline rating in 2020.
