Joji Ilagan International Schools mounts Global Skills 2023

Once again, Global Skills, the most awaited institutional event of the Joji Ilagan International Schools, participated by the Institute of Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship (ICHEF) and the Tourism and Hospitality Education International Management (THE-IMS) schools was mounted at the activity Center of Abreeza Mall on July 11, 2023, with the theme “Sustaining Global Excellence."

Global Skills is an annual event and comprehensive cognitive, metacognitive, and technical skills competition organized by our institution. The primary objective of Global Skills 2023 is to offer a platform for our stakeholders, including students and industry partners, to gain valuable insights and perspectives as we prepare our students for future endeavors.

Madayaw! Welcome to Global Skills 2023

Sharing their insights were guest speakers Cherry Crisostomo, DDI,CGSP,CHS (SEDA Hotels); Olive Puentespina (Malagos Garden Resort Davao); Chef Piya Suthasiri (Dusit Thani Hotels & Resort); and, Michelle Yian (Transcon Travel Dvo PH / Davao Travel Agency Association).

Guest speakers share their insights

"We believe in fostering a holistic approach to education, and this event serves as an opportunity to showcase technical proficiency and competence required in the culinary, hospitality, and tourism industries.Through this initiative, we hope to provide an avenue for our stakeholders (students and industry partners) to continue procuring relevant and valuable insights as we prepare our students for future endeavors. We also aim to highlight the technical proficiency and competence necessary in the field of culinary, hospitality, and tourism industries," said Nicole Hao Bian Ledesma, Joji Ilagan International Schools Chief Operating Officer.

By participating in this event, students will have the chance to demonstrate their skills and compete in various categories. These competitions will not only provide a competitive environment but also encourage the development of essential cognitive and metacognitive abilities. Furthermore, industry partners will have the opportunity to interact with the students and identify potential talent for their organizations.

Global Skills 2023 aims to contribute to the growth and sustainability of global excellence in education and industry. Through this event, we aspire to empower students and equip them with the necessary skills to excel in their respective fields.




The panel of judges for the 2023 Global Skills competition were comprised of industry professionals, including Chef Elaine Balahay, RN - Owner of Chef Nurse`s Kitchen; Chef Edward Gador - Cake Artist;
Chef Ferdinand Recaborda - Executive Sous Chef of Dusit Thani Hotels and Resorts; Chef Fely Sanchez - Executive Chef of Park Inn Radissons; Patrick Arkin Rios; Mr. Hipolito Balon Jr. - Owner of Sirok Restaurant; Evelyn Hipolito; Jonathan Engbino; Lysa Yanni Antonio - Former FA of Qatar Airways; Hart Nobleza - Operstions Supervisor of Stratos Security System Inc.; MJ Villanueve -Nobleza - Senior Talent Acquisition Associate of Alorica Davao; Almohte jayadi Jalaidi; Alem Jaisam Abu Mamentong; Kalunhaw Farm; and, RJ Monsod.
