Abreeza Mall, One with Davao

Abreeza, the first premier mall in the city, is forging stronger ties with the Department of Tourism XI in promoting Davao tourism

AUGUST has proven to be another exciting month for Davao City and Abreeza Mall. The month-long celebration of the Kadayawan, the most prestigious festival in the city and Mindanao, lured in guests from all over, both local and international, and celebrated the best of Davao in style in a single stop — the Abreeza Mall, Davao’s first premier mall.

“Abreeza ushered in a new lifestyle among Dabawenyos and is also offering that as a whole new experience for visitors in terms of shopping, dining, entertainment and other services that tremendously helped us in our branding efforts for Davao as a vibrant, dynamic and urban destination,” said Arturo Boncato, Director of the Department of Tourism XI, on how Abreeza is helping boost the tourism industry of Davao.

Along with the mall’s action-packed Kadayawan fanfare and entertainment—shows featuring the local cinema’s heartthrobs at the activity center, extended mall hours and the 31-day sale— the “uniquely Davao” events co-presented with the DOT were two of the mall’s best festival highlights—the “Fly Davao, Shop Abreeza,” which was co-presented with the Davao Travel Agency Association, and the “Davao Fruit Craze.”

“Fly Davao, Shop Abreeza” entitled the Davao festival tourists and visitors flying through Philippine Airlines and Silk Air to great perks, including discounts and freebies at participating Abreeza restaurants, and a chance to bask in luxury for a night in Seda Abreeza Hotel or Pearl Farm Beach Resort.

Mr. Boncato said of this promotion, “Using one’s plane boarding pass as a key to discounts is an exciting tool to lead tourists and travelers discover more about how Davao has progressed and how it is becoming to be one of the best destinations in the country today. The promotion that puts great value to used boarding passes extends goodwill not only among passengers but most especially also to airline companies.”

It is on this year’s Kadayawan Festival that the “Davao Fruit Craze” was launched. An event that aims to further establish Davao City as the fruit basket of the Philippines. The trailblazing promotion presented by the DOT and Abreeza Mall featured the bountiful harvest the city has during this time of the year— in a mall, this time. The popular succulent Davao fruits like the durian, pomelo, lanzones, mangosteen, rambutan, etc., took center stage and were made very accessible to everyone at the Abreeza Mall Boardwalk during the festival.

“Our Davao Fruit Craze project is rooted on the fact that Davao is the fruit capital of the country and its staging during the Kadayawan Festival is most ideal with both harvest and visitors in great numbers. It is our mission to make our city's numerous and vast orchards’ produce conveniently accessible to our visitors and to express our best wishes for a fruitful stay in Davao,” shared Mr. Boncato.

The first Kadayawan “Davao Fruit Craze” at the Abreeza Mall Boardwalk brought the Davao fruits closer to the public.

After this highly successful alliance between Abreeza Mall and the DOT during the Kadayawan, expect a stronger partnership in the coming days.

Abreeza will be working hand in hand with the DOT in pushing Davao to the tourism forefront. When asked what future projects the DOT and Abreeza will have, the Tourism Regional Director imparted this exciting news, “We are certainly looking at our fruit mart project to flourish and we are looking at doing another one this year. Also, as part of the Abreeza's DNA, we would want to pursue an arts festival that would help Davao bring out its other comparative advantage of being a treasure-trove of talents as a wellspring of inspiration for artists. Among the most important programs we are starting with Abreeza’s full support is The Big Davao Fun Sale from March 14 to April 16, 2014. This is ambitious and is going to be the first of its kind in the country.”
