Three events from south to north, from day to night. When I spot something interesting or dear to me, I wouldn’t mind traversing the roads laden with weekend traffic. Here’s what transpired on that day.
Davao Chocolate Festival at SM City Davao
I’m always on the hunt for something new and exciting during the Davao Chocolate Festival. The two previous festivals showed a couple and this year I discovered a few interesting products.
Renowned Davao chocolate maker, Malagos Chocolates, rolled out new products. Diverting from the regular bars, they made bite-sized orbs in three varieties using three kinds of nuts—toasted corn, pili and almond—coated with dark chocolate.
From the six new players in the field, one brand made it to the festival—MS3 Choco. It’s a group of 26 OFW workers joined together to come up with new brand.
Dessert choices using the local chocolate have increased. Most of them though are too sweet for my taste. If you like the not-so-sweet desserts, let me point you to two desserts I like—Gabriela’s Walnut Brownies and Racoma’s Biko, Ube with Chocolate Topping.
FujiFilm Media Huddle at Seda Abreeza
I have an outdated camera and on the lookout for a new one. Photographers Niko Villegas and Joji Alcantara were egging me to get a Fuji cam (because they are talents of the brand LOL). For my needs, they said the new X-T100 would be perfect. I got to handle the X-T100 camera at the brand’s media huddle that featured two models of X-Series Mirrorless Cameras and I liked the outcome of the shots. However, the features are a bit complicated for me. Niko said I should join more workshops to enjoy the camera’s full potential. Will I buy one? Niko’s foot is in the door.
The annual pink event at Waterfront Insular Hotel
I lost my mom to breast cancer and I do my best to raise breast cancer awareness in what little way I can. Waterfront hosts an annual Pink October and I make it a point to go.
This year’s affair takes a twist to include cagers on the ramp. “The Pink League” was where pink came to play. Female models strutted in blush-toned designer gowns while the Davao Occidental team of Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League showed that real men wear pink.
The DVOOCC and Waterfront co-presented 7PM-private affair treated the four teams of cagers to a sit-down dinner at the tent and the rest of the guests to cocktails at La Parilla.
It was a surprisingly unique affair in more ways than you can imagine.
