If you love chocolates, then this is the place you want – need – to be. At this time of the year, the greatest concentration of chocolates in Davao will be in this spot – The Davao Chocolate Festival at the SM City Davao Annex.
It’s the fifth edition of the festival where 16 exhibitors are participating. Here is where you’ll find – and taste!- the end products of the locally grown cacao seeds.
I make it a point to visit this festival and check out what’s new on the chocolate menu. I’m a bit of a “dessert party pooper” because I always wanted my desserts on the not-so-sweet side. Those that make it on my sugar scale, I fall in love with. Yes, I’m that easy.
There’s something for all desserts lovers in this place. Baked goods and drinks, all highlighting the chocolate of course, with sweetness in the level you may fancy. And if you’re into dark chocolates, this place is paradise for you.
What’s new on the list that I liked? Here they are.
1. Malagos Chocolates’ bite-sized orbs- the dark chocolate coated nuts in three varieties: toasted corn, pili and almond—coated with dark chocolate.
2. Gabriela’s Walnut Brownies. It comes in round bite-sized servings and sold by packs. Bitter chocolate is evident with the right level of sweetness.
3. Racoma’s Biko, Ube with Chocolate Topping. Perhaps you’ve trued the latik topping of this version but this store got creative and substituted the latik with dark chocolate. It’s a successful Pinoy dessert, if you ask me.
The Davao Chocolate Festival runs until October 21, 2018
