Davao Fashion Watch: Elements of Style by Emilia Sitjar Jewellery

What:Emilia Sitjar Jewellery trunk show

Where:Azuela Cove Residences Showroom

Who came: Jewelry lovers and collectors

It’s the annual jewelry trunk show of the oldest jewelry store in Davao. For the 2018 show, the third in their series, the theme was “The Elements of Style. An afternoon by the Garden.”

Collaborating with the jewelry store was Otoi Mercado, an all too familiar figure in the Davao fashion design scene, but retired from it. For this event, he lifted the design pencil once more to come up with a collection. Executing his designs was Atelier 115, a preferred stop for women who admire contemporary couture.

Emilia Sitjar Jewellery’s Elements of Style pays tribute to women as purveyors of style

Designer and operations manager Emil Sitjar looked to trendsetters Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor as the inspiration, saying, “This collection refocuses from the jewellery to the clients’ originality and personal aesthetics. The women who follow their own unique sense of style, who dictate style rather than style dictating them.”

The collection enjoys a play of colors and cuts of various gemstones. Topazes, Tanzanites, Spinels, Diamonds, Rubies, Pearls to name a few, were designed to stand out individually or combined to create a strikingly unique work of wearable art.

Impressive was the Art Deco movement-inspired collection. It presented specially-cut Onyxs, and Opals, Rubies and Tsavorites as the gemstones.

“By far this is the most important collection of the Emilia Sitjar Jewellery. It invokes not only the classic style of jewellery as art that proudly upholds Filipino design sense and craftsmanship, but by making women as the forefront of our inspiration,” said Emil.

The collection can be viewed at the Emilia Sitjar Jewellery store at the second level of Abreeza Mall.
