Flag carrier Philippine Airlines announced its long-haul routes and flight offerings for the upcoming 'winter' schedule that begins in late October and encompasses the usual holiday peak season.
These flights will serve the U.S. and Canadian East and West Coast as well as Europe and Hawaii:
Manila - Los Angeles - Manila: 10 to 12 weekly flights
Manila - San Francisco - Manila: Daily flights
Manila - New York - Manila: Two to three weekly flights
Manila – London – Manila: Twice monthly special flights
Manila - Honolulu - Manila: Two to three weekly flights
Manila - Vancouver - Manila: Three to four weekly flights
Manila - Toronto - Manila: Once weekly flights
PAL is the only Filipino airline operating long-haul routes beyond 10 hours flying time to key global destinations, including ultra-long-range nonstop services to New York and Toronto that use transpolar routes over the Arctic region.
The flag carrier’s special flights between Manila and London (Heathrow) are set for the following dates: October 5 and 26, 2021; November 9 and 23, 2021; December 7 and 14, 2021; as well as January 4 and 11, 2022.
PAL Senior VP and Chief Strategy and Planning Officer Dexter C. Lee said: "We are heeding the call for more flights to and from the US Mainland, Canada, and the UK to serve many of our fellow Filipinos who want to rejoin their families in time for the Christmas holidays. As travel restrictions ease in coming months, our nonstop global links can help the Philippines stage a comeback in tourism.”
To increase connectivity to other cities in the western U.S. mainland, Philippine Airlines has launched services between Manila and Seattle (Washington), Las Vegas (Nevada) and Portland (Oregon) via Honolulu, in a tie-up with interline partner Hawaiian Airlines.
PAL Senior VP for Sales and Marketing Oscar A. Reyes said: "We are broadening airline partnerships in order to provide our customers a convenient way to fly to these major cities in the Pacific Northwest and Sunbelt regions of the United States, or from these areas to the Philippines. We urge travelers to enjoy a free overnight stay in Honolulu on the westbound flight to Manila, a package which includes land transfers and free baggage allowance."
Regular flights to various points in the Middle East (Dubai, Dammam, Doha and Riyadh) and Asia (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul and several cities in Japan) are also slated for increases as travel demand recovers in line with easing of restrictions.
PAL is also set to mount special flights to Australian points (Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney) and Auckland, New Zealand, averaging several such flights every month. The flag carrier is keenly eyeing the plans of the Australian Government to reopen regular international travel to and from Australia.
The plans for these routes and schedules are subject to change or adjustments in compliance with changing government travel restrictions and pandemic-related developments that affect travel demand.
The flag carrier is assigning modern Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 long-range aircraft for the mainland U.S. and London flights, as well as tri-class Airbus A330s for the flights to Hawaii and Australia.
Safety and service remain the cornerstone of PAL operations, assuring passengers that health and safety protocols are observed strictly throughout their journey with the Philippine flag carrier.
All PAL aircraft have advanced HEPA filters to cleanse cabin air of bacteria and viruses with 99.99% efficacy, and air circulation systems that direct air flow from top to bottom for added safety. PAL cabin crew wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gowns, face masks and face shields. Aircraft surfaces, from tray tables to armrests and cabin walls, are disinfected before and after every flight using high-grade eco-friendly cleaning agents.
